About This Course
This course will define the science of reading and its relevance to early childhood education. Participants will learn how the Read It Again! curriculum supplement draws upon the principles of the science of reading to systematically and strategically prepare the youngest learners (infants-preschoolers) for reading success as they enter elementary school.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Define the science of reading.
- Identify the core ingredients of Read It Again!
- Explain the alignment of Read It Again! in early childhood programs and the science of reading.
- Understand the importance of supporting young children to develop the language and literacy skills targeted in Read It Again!
Credit Information
This course is provided by the Crane Center for Early Childhood Research and Policy in the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University. This module is an Ohio Approved online professional development event. Learners wanting to receive Ohio Approved credit must be registered in the Ohio Professional Registry and provide the necessary information for credit to be given. Credit may take up to 30 days to be entered into the Ohio Professional Registry.
