Course Introduction

This workshop will be a series of five classes during which we will focus on the eight Science & Engineering Practices as well as Ambitious Science Teaching tools and resources. We will provide our participants opportunities to learn about each practice, and engage in discussions about how other science teachers are leveraging these practices to engage students in science learning. We will also discuss ways in which science teachers can deepen the implementation of the practices in their own contexts. Emphasis will be placed on using the practices to elicit student thinking and encourage student engagement and support diverse learners.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will understand how to implement the eight Science & Engineering Practices in their own contexts; how to leverage the practices to elicit student thinking, encourage student engagement, and support diverse learners.
