Course Introduction

Are your students not as engaged as you would like? Do you have classes in which students perform at multiple levels? How can you make changes that spark students’ curiosity and engage them all in learning? Do you practice or have you considered co-teaching? This course combines content related to collaboration and differentiated instruction in ways that support participants as they collaboratively produce a differentiated lesson plan or unit designed to engage all students. We will examine barriers to and types of collaboration, practice communication styles and what to do when collaboration is challenging, and (re)create a lesson plan or unit that incorporates differentiated instruction. Participants can enroll in teams or individually.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to overcome communication barriers, to establish and/or improve co-teaching relationships, focusing on each individual's comfort levels and areas of strength. Participants will also collaboratively (or individually) differentiate an established lesson or unit.
